JOHANNESBURG

Johannesburg is a buzzing city, with lots to do. There is something for everyone, old and young. If you're looking to visit Johannesburg, this is the page to consult. Filled with large shopping malls, theaters, large parks, entertainment parks and much more, this is a wonderful place to get lost in for a day or two.

The city of Johannesburg has several well known landmarks, several of which are well known. The Strydom Tower is a high tower that anyone can recognize anywhere as belonging to Johannesburg. A huge, thin tower with a rotating restaurant up the top. In addition, Sandton City can be seen from far away, which indicates exactly where the heart of wealthy Johannesburg lies.

Johannesburg is divided into poor and rich suburbs, but yet offers something that both poor and rich can enjoy. The more wealthy suburbs are situated around the Sandton area, which includes Sandhurst, Craighall Park and Houghton to name but a few. The poorer suburbs are more towards the center of Johannesburg, which includes Hillbrow, Saphiretown and Johannesburg City Center.

In the city center, you will find the train station, the buss depot where all the luxury tour buses depart from, and the Civic Theater. At the Johannesburg Civic Theater there are often amazing live plays, such as Jack and the Bean Stalk or Cinderella to be seen. Whatever the latest play is, you would be able to see it at this amazing place.

Some of the huge law firms, publishing houses and broadcasting companies are situated in Sandton, such as Jacaranda FM and Bowman and Gilfillan.

Johannesburg is always about two to three degrees colder than Pretoria, due to its location. During summer, Johannesburg's average temperature can reach about 25 to 27 degrees Celcius, and in the winter months, the average temperatures are between 17 to 21 degrees Celcius. Rainfall is during the summer time. In winter, frost is not uncommon, and in the exception when it is a very cold winter, snow can even occur. This only happens once every ten or twenty years though.

Johannesburg is a major city for commercial and industrial activities, including transportation and tourism. Most of the major business firms in South Africa are located in Johannesburg. There are people from every walk of life there, and basically every culture. From the native South African to the wealthy overseas business man. There are many accommodation venues in Johannesburg, both budget and luxury accommodation.
