NATAL MIDLANDS

When you get tired of wind, water and waves all the time down at the beach, South Africa offers some other great regions and areas to visit further inland. One of those regions are the Natal Midlands, stretching from the Drakensberg in the west to the sunny South African Natal coast in the east.
The Midlands consists mainly of lush, green farmlands, where sugar cane, mielies and potatos are planted. Huge food suppliers get their food from the Natal Midlands, where the best, biggest and nicest fruit and vegetables in South Africa comes from.
Climate:
The Natal Midlands is also rich with water, as several rivers makes their way through to the Indian Ocean. The region is also invested with thick forrests, mostly indigenous.
Natal's climate has a lot to do with it's Fauna and Flora, where the weather permits plants to grow and become large. Some of the biggest avos, bananas and other fruits come from the Natal Midlands.
In the Valley of the Thousand Hills, situated in the Natal Midlands, one can often experience all four seasons in one day. The morning can start out bright and sunny but by lunch time, it can be overcast, cold and misty. Sometimes the mist becomes so thick, that you can hardly see your hand in front of you. This climate assists greatly in the wonderful growth of fruit and vegetables in this region.
